Paddling Out: Surfing, Shaping and the Art of Happiness - A Novel

Twenty-one-year-old Nick lives in Ventura, CA. The son of a commercial fisherman, he's a passionate surfer and about to begin his senior year of college when he mangles his surfboard and needs every penny he has to fix it. The problem is, he can't afford payments for his girlfriend's engagement ring AND the repair. He’ll have to hit up his dad for the money.

Nick takes his board to Woolly’s surf shop where the legendary and quirky old surfer spouts quotes from Epicurus and Aristotle that force him to confront the biggest wave of his life: carving his own ride to happiness.
